Ukraine has a very high suicide rate

In 2008 occurred 11,144 suicides in Ukraine. This year, 658 fewer people committed suicide than in 2007. In 2008, on average 31 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine had 24.24 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 11,144 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 9,183 were men suicides and 1,961 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 43.35 per 100,000 men and for women 7.91 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,466 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.5 suicides.
