Ukraine has a very high suicide rate

In 2001 occurred 16,368 suicides in Ukraine. This year, 1,647 fewer people committed suicide than in 2000. In 2001, on average 45 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine had 33.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 10.88 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 16,368 recorded suicide cases in 2001, 13,608 were men suicides and 2,760 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 60.98 per 100,000 men and for women 10.65 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 4,854 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.4 suicides.
