Number of suicides increases in Tajikistan

In 2008 around 289 suicides occurred in Tajikistan, 3 more than in 2007.

Tajikistan reported 3.96 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 289 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 225 were men suicides and 64 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.17 per 100,000 men and for women 1.75 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tajikistan suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 100 homicides in Tajikistan, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.9 suicides.
