There are 17 suicides per day in Iran

By 2009, suicides in Iran increased by 1,360 people to at 6,092 suicides In 2009, on average 17 Iranians committed suicide every day.

In Iran there were 8.32 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 10 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 6,092 recorded suicide cases in 2009, 4,085 were men suicides and 2,006 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.82 per 100,000 men and for women 5.49 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Iran suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,215 homicides in Iran, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.8 suicides.
