There are 20 suicides per day in Iran

In 2008 around 7,452 suicides occurred in Iran, 224 less than in 2007. In 2008, on average 20 Iranians committed suicide every day.

Iran reported 10.31 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 7,452 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 5,060 were men suicides and 2,393 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.58 per 100,000 men and for women 6.64 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Iran suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,015 homicides in Iran, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.7 suicides.
