Suicides grow in Haiti

By 2008, suicides in Haiti increased by 26 people to at 855 suicides On average, there are 2 suicides per day.

In Haiti there were 8.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.96 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 855 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 641 were men suicides and 214 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 13.47 per 100,000 men and for women 4.45 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Haiti suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 498 homicides in Haiti, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
