Of the 13 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 11 were men suicides and 2 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 7.12 per 100,000 men and for women 1.48 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Belize. However, in Belize in 2008 there were there were 103 homicides, many more than suicides. There were 7.9 homicides per suicide.
