Belarus has a very high suicide rate

By 2008, suicides in Belarus increased by 5 people to at 2,855 suicides In 2008, on average 8 Belarusians committed suicide every day.

In Belarus there were 29.52 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.96 suicides per 100,000 people.

Belarus has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,855 recorded suicide cases in 2008, 2,300 were men suicides and 555 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 50.97 per 100,000 men and for women 10.76 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Belarus suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 552 homicides in Belarus, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 5.2 suicides.
