Uruguay rises the national minimum wage

In 2006, the national minimum wage in Uruguay remained fixed at €105.1 per month, that is 1,261 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Uruguayan pesos, which is the official currency in Uruguay, we can see that, this year, it was 3,000 Uruguayan pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 500 Uruguayan pesos per month from the previous year, 20%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2005 which was 4.9%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Uruguay is in 48 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 81 of the list.
