South Africa rises the national minimum wage

In 2005, the national minimum wage in South Africa remained fixed at €185.3 per month, that is 2,224 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in South African rands, which is the official currency in South Africa, we can see that, this year, it was 1,425 South African rands and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 115 South African rands per month from the previous year, 8.78%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2004 which was 2.2%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.
