In 2016 Portugal public debt was 241,061 million euros 266,830 million dollars, has increased 9,4779,887 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 130.4% of Portugal GDP, a 1.4 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 129% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Portugal debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 115,002 million euros 144,397 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 69.2%.
According to the last data point published, Portugal per capita debt in 2016 was 23,310 euros25,820 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 22,394 euros 24,801 dollars, afterwards rising by 916 euros1,019 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 10,919 euros13,728 dollars .
The position of Portugal, as compared with the rest of the world, has remained in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 180 in the list of debt to GDP and 168 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
