This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 105.9% of Belgium GDP, a 0.1 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 105.8% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Belgium debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 297,387 million euros 373,399 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 91%.
According to the last data point published, Belgium per capita debt in 2016 was 39,503 euros43,731 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 38,369 euros 42,870 dollars, afterwards rising by 1,134 euros861 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 28,096 euros35,510 dollars .
The position of Belgium, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 171 in the list of debt to GDP and 181 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
