Suicides grow in Malta

By 2021, suicides in Malta increased by 16 people to at 37 suicides

In Malta there were 6.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.18 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 37 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 27 were men suicides and 10 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.31 per 100,000 men and for women 4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Malta suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2 homicides in Malta, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 18.5 suicides.
