In 2014 Malta public debt was 5,417 million euros 7,197 million dollars, has increased 176236 million since 2013.
This amount means that the debt in 2014 reached 68.00% of Malta GDP, a 1.80 percentage point fall from 2013, when it was 69.80% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Malta debt. It has risen since 2004 in global debt terms, when it was 3,452 million euros 4,294 million dollars although it has fallen as a percentage of GDP, when it amounted to 72.00%.
According to the last data point published, Malta per capita debt in 2014 was 12,648 euros16,658 dollars per inhabitant. In 2013 it was 12,494 euros 15,106 dollars, afterwards rising by 154 euros1,552 dolar, and if we again check 2004 we can see that then the debt per person was 8,712 euros9,431 dollars .
The position of Malta, as compared with the rest of the world, has improved in 2014 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 139 in the list of debt to GDP and 152 in debt per capita, out of the 179 we publish.
