Suicides grow in Norway

By 2021, suicides in Norway increased by 9 people to at 657 suicides In Norway, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Norway there were 11.93 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.18 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 657 recorded suicide cases in 2021, 482 were men suicides and 175 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 17.3 per 100,000 men and for women 6.42 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Norway suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 29 homicides in Norway, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 22.7 suicides.
