Number of suicides increases in Georgia

In 2015 around 267 suicides occurred in Georgia, 2 more than in 2014.

Georgia reported 7.18 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 267 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 219 were men suicides and 48 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.31 per 100,000 men and for women 2.47 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Georgia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 108 homicides in Georgia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.5 suicides.
