In 2015 around 9,024 suicides occurred in Ukraine, 196 more than in 2014. In 2015, on average 25 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.
Ukraine reported 21.19 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.
Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 9,024 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 7,064 were men suicides and 1,960 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 35.82 per 100,000 men and for women 8.57 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,845 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.2 suicides.
