Suicides decreased in Timor-Leste

In 2015 around 84 suicides occurred in Timor-Leste, 5 less than in 2014.

Timor-Leste reported 7.01 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 84 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 57 were men suicides and 27 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.32 per 100,000 men and for women 4.5 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Timor-Leste suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 49 homicides in Timor-Leste, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
