Suicides decreased in Singapore

In 2015 around 555 suicides occurred in Singapore, 90 less than in 2014. In Singapore, on average, at least one suicide happens every year.

Singapore reported 10.03 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 555 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 375 were men suicides and 180 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 12.96 per 100,000 men and for women 6.81 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Singapore suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 14 homicides in Singapore, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 39.6 suicides.
