Suicides remained unchanged in Samoa

In 2015 around 11 suicides occurred in Samoa, as occurred in 2014.

Samoa reported 5.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 11 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 9 were men suicides and 2 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 8.47 per 100,000 men and for women 2.25 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Samoa suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 6 homicides in Samoa, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.8 suicides.
