Suicides increase in Paraguay

In 2015 occurred 680 suicides in Paraguay. This year, 10 more people committed suicide than in 2014. In Paraguay, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Paraguay had 10.07 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 680 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 470 were men suicides and 210 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.13 per 100,000 men and for women 6.84 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Paraguay suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 617 homicides in Paraguay, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
