In 2015 around 1,207 suicides occurred in Ecuador, 109 less than in 2014. In 2015, on average 3 Ecuadorians committed suicide every day.

Ecuador reported 7.42 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.51 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 1,207 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 903 were men suicides and 304 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11.15 per 100,000 men and for women 3.75 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ecuador suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 1,050 homicides in Ecuador, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.1 suicides.
