Suicides remained unchanged in Botswana

In 2015 around 220 suicides occurred in Botswana, as occurred in 2014.

Botswana reported 10.37 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 220 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 168 were men suicides and 52 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 14.79 per 100,000 men and for women 4.46 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Botswana. However, in Botswana in 2015 there were there were 303 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.4 homicides per suicide.
