Bolivia had 18.56 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.51 suicides per 100,000 people.
Bolivia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 2,010 recorded suicide cases in 2015, 1,307 were men suicides and 703 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 23.43 per 100,000 men and for women 12.76 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Bolivia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 543 homicides in Bolivia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 3.7 suicides.
