The national minimum wage increase in Costa Rica

In 2015 , the national minimum wage in Costa Rica remained fixed at 433.4 € per month, that is 5,201 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Costa Rican colones, which is the official currency in Costa Rica, we can see that, this year, it was 285,133.2 Costa Rican colones and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 18,190.5 Costa Rican colones per month from the previous year, 6.81%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2014 which was 5.1%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.
