In 2016 Benin public debt was 3,899 million euros 4,315 million dollars, has increased 727796 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 50.3% of Benin GDP, a 7.87 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 42.43% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Benin debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 469 million euros 589 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 11.43%.
According to the last data point published, Benin per capita debt in 2016 was 349 euros386 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 292 euros 323 dollars, afterwards rising by 57 euros63 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 56 euros70 dollars .
The position of Benin, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 98 in the list of debt to GDP and 29 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
