The minimum wage goes up in Chile

In 2001, the national minimum wage in Chile remained fixed at €194.6 per month, that is 2,335 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Chilean pesos, which is the official currency in Chile, we can see that, this year, it was 103,208 Chilean pesos and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 7,166 Chilean pesos per month from the previous year, 7.46%. This increase is greater than the CPI of 2000 which was 4.5%, so workers have gained buying power in the last year.
