Bulgaria rises the national minimum wage

Since June 2001, the national minimum wage in Bulgaria remained fixed at €43.7 per month, that is 524 euros per year, taking into account 12 payments per year.

If we look at the minimum salary in Bulgarian Lev, which is the official currency in Bulgaria, we can see that, this year, it was 85 Bulgarian Lev and accordingly, the national minimum wage has been raised 6 Bulgarian Lev per month from the previous year, 7.59%. This increase is less than the CPI of 2001 which was 11.3%,and so workers, despite the raise, have lost buying power in the last year.

If we look at the ranking of the national minimum wage that we publish, Bulgaria is in 51 nd place, so it is among the countries with the lowest minimum salary of the 65 of the list.
