In 2016 Suriname public debt was 2,247 million euros 2,487 million dollars, has increased 376411 million since 2015.
This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 75.85% of Suriname GDP, a 32.82 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 43.03% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Suriname debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 501 million euros 629 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 23.95%.
According to the last data point published, Suriname per capita debt in 2016 was 4,024 euros4,454 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 3,382 euros 3,753 dollars, afterwards rising by 642 euros701 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 994 euros1,248 dollars .
The position of Suriname, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 146 in the list of debt to GDP and 117 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
