This amount means that the debt in 2016 reached 82.93% of Saint Lucia GDP, a 5.18 percentage point rise from 2015, when it was 77.75% of GDP.
If we check the tables we can see the evolution of Saint Lucia debt. It has risen since 2006 in global debt terms, when it was 491 million euros 617 million dollars and also in terms of GDP percentage, when it amounted to 56.86%.
According to the last data point published, Saint Lucia per capita debt in 2016 was 5,876 euros6,452 dollars per inhabitant. In 2015 it was 5,613 euros 6,279 dollars, afterwards rising by 263 euros173 dollars, and if we again check 2006 we can see that then the debt per person was 2,960 euros3,631 dollars .
The position of Saint Lucia, as compared with the rest of the world, has worsened in 2016 in terms of GDP percentage. Currently it is country number 157 in the list of debt to GDP and 137 in debt per capita, out of the 185 we publish.
