There are 4 suicides per day in Zimbabwe

In 2012 around 1,619 suicides occurred in Zimbabwe, 37 more than in 2011. In 2012, on average 4 Zimbabweans committed suicide every day.

Zimbabwe reported 12.39 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,619 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,195 were men suicides and 423 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.21 per 100,000 men and for women 6.01 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Zimbabwe suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 981 homicides in Zimbabwe, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.7 suicides.
