In 2011 around 1,582 suicides occurred in Zimbabwe, 12 more than in 2010. In 2011, on average 4 Zimbabweans committed suicide every day.

Zimbabwe reported 12.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.82 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 1,582 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 1,182 were men suicides and 401 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 19.33 per 100,000 men and for women 5.79 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Zimbabwe suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 711 homicides in Zimbabwe, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 2.2 suicides.
