Ukraine has a very high suicide rate

In 2012 around 10,193 suicides occurred in Ukraine, 72 more than in 2011. In 2012, on average 28 Ukrainians committed suicide every day.

Ukraine reported 22.47 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 9.87 suicides per 100,000 people.

Ukraine has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 10,193 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 8,219 were men suicides and 1,974 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 39.21 per 100,000 men and for women 8.09 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Ukraine suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 2,336 homicides in Ukraine, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 4.4 suicides.
