There are 7 suicides per day in Uganda

In 2012 occurred 2,521 suicides in Uganda. This year, 84 more people committed suicide than in 2011. In 2012, on average 7 Ugandans committed suicide every day.

Uganda had 7.75 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,521 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 1,746 were men suicides and 775 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.34 per 100,000 men and for women 4.46 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2012 there were there were 4,066 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.6 homicides per suicide.
