There are 7 suicides per day in Uganda

In 2011 occurred 2,437 suicides in Uganda. This year, 135 more people committed suicide than in 2010. In 2011, on average 7 Ugandans committed suicide every day.

Uganda had 7.73 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 2,437 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 1,690 were men suicides and 747 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.31 per 100,000 men and for women 4.42 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Uganda. However, in Uganda in 2011 there were there were 3,753 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.5 homicides per suicide.
