Turkey - Intentional self-harm

In 2011 occurred 1,148 suicides in Türkiye. This year, 376 fewer people committed suicide than in 2010. In 2011, on average 3 Turks committed suicide every day.

Türkiye had 1.52 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Türkiye has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,148 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 850 were men suicides and 298 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 2.24 per 100,000 men and for women 0.79 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Türkiye. However, in Türkiye in 2011 there were there were 3,061 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.7 homicides per suicide.
