Suicides grow in Tunisia

By 2010, suicides in Tunisia increased by 21 people to at 556 suicides In Tunisia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

In Tunisia there were 5.23 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 556 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 337 were men suicides and 219 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 6.21 per 100,000 men and for women 4.01 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Tunisia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 286 homicides in Tunisia, suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 1.9 suicides.
