Suicides grow in Trinidad and Tobago

By 2011, suicides in Trinidad and Tobago increased by 18 people to at 189 suicides

In Trinidad and Tobago there were 14.16 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 9.82 suicides per 100,000 people.

Of the 189 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 156 were men suicides and 33 were women. Men have a high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 22.24 per 100,000 men and for women 4.64 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Trinidad and Tobago. However, in Trinidad and Tobago in 2011 there were there were 352 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.9 homicides per suicide.
