Tanzania - Intentional self-harm

In 2010 occurred 3,103 suicides in Tanzania. This year, 136 more people committed suicide than in 2009. In 2010, on average 9 Tanzanians committed suicide every day.

Tanzania had 7.21 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.89 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 3,103 recorded suicide cases in 2010, 2,309 were men suicides and 793 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 10.41 per 100,000 men and for women 3.46 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Tanzania. However, in Tanzania in 2010 there were there were 3,888 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.3 homicides per suicide.
