In 1992 occurred 1,432 suicides in Switzerland. This year, 112 fewer people committed suicide than in 1991. In 1992, on average 4 Swiss committed suicide every day.

Switzerland had 20.8 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, above the world average of 15.38 suicides per 100,000 people.

Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 1,432 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 1,051 were men suicides and 381 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 31.3 per 100,000 men and for women 10.8 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Switzerland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 93 homicides in Switzerland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.4 suicides.
