Switzerland had 22.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.11 suicides per 100,000 people.
Switzerland has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 1,544 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 1,140 were men suicides and 404 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 34.3 per 100,000 men and for women 11.6 per 100,000 female.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Switzerland suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 98 homicides in Switzerland, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 15.8 suicides.
