In 1992 occurred 2,786 suicides in Spain. This year, 130 fewer people committed suicide than in 1991. In 1992, on average 8 Spaniards committed suicide every day.

Spain had 7.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.38 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Spain has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 2,786 recorded suicide cases in 1992, 2,104 were men suicides and 682 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 11 per 100,000 men and for women 3.4 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Spain suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 441 homicides in Spain, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 6.3 suicides.
