South Korea has a low suicide rate

In 1991 around 3,069 suicides occurred in South Korea, 90 less than in 1990. In 1991, on average 8 South Koreans committed suicide every day.

South Korea reported 7.1 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 15.11 self-harm per 100.000 people.

South Korea has a low suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 3,069 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 2,139 were men suicides and 930 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.8 per 100,000 men and for women 4.3 per 100,000 female.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In South Korea suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 217 homicides in South Korea, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 14.1 suicides.
