Suicides increase in Somalia

In 2012 occurred 512 suicides in Somalia. This year, 25 more people committed suicide than in 2011. In Somalia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Somalia had 4.33 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.87 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 512 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 360 were men suicides and 152 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.78 per 100,000 men and for women 2.45 per 100,000 female.
