Suicides increase in Somalia

In 2011 occurred 487 suicides in Somalia. This year, 17 more people committed suicide than in 2010. In Somalia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Somalia had 3.99 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 487 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 342 were men suicides and 145 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 5.59 per 100,000 men and for women 2.39 per 100,000 female.
