Slovenia has a very high suicide rate

In 1995 occurred 564 suicides in Slovenia. This year, 57 fewer people committed suicide than in 1994. In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Slovenia had 28.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.58 suicides per 100,000 people.

Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 564 recorded suicide cases in 1995, 435 were men suicides and 129 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 45 per 100,000 men and for women 12.6 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 44 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 12.8 suicides.
