Slovenia has a very high suicide rate

In 1991 occurred 646 suicides in Slovenia. This year, 93 more people committed suicide than in 1990. In Slovenia, on average, at least one suicide happens every day.

Slovenia had 32.3 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.11 suicides per 100,000 people.

Slovenia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.

Of the 646 recorded suicide cases in 1991, 501 were men suicides and 145 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 51.6 per 100,000 men and for women 14.1 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.

Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Slovenia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 40 homicides in Slovenia, the number of suicides far outnumber homicides. For every homicide there were 16.2 suicides.
