Suicides remained unchanged in Samoa

In 2011 around 12 suicides occurred in Samoa, as occurred in 2010.

Samoa reported 6.17 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, much less than the average suicide in the world, of 9.82 self-harm per 100.000 people.

Of the 12 recorded suicide cases in 2011, 9 were men suicides and 2 were women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 9.19 per 100,000 men and for women 2.37 per 100,000 female.

Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Samoa. However, in Samoa in 2011 there were there were 16 homicides, then, homicides are more common than suicides. There were 1.3 homicides per suicide.
