Of the 14 recorded suicide cases in 2012, 13 were men suicides and 1 were woman. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 15.28 per 100,000 men and for women 0.77 per 100,000 female.
Suicide is a very important cause of death in the world and also in Saint Lucia. However, in Saint Lucia in 2012 there were there were 39 homicides, and therefore, number of deaths by murder is far greater than people to take their own lives. There were 2.8 homicides per suicide.
