Russia had 41.7 suicides per 100,000 inhabitants, well above the world average of 15.83 suicides per 100,000 people.
Russia has a very high suicide rate compared to other countries.
Of the 61,886 recorded suicide cases in 1994, 51,464 were men suicides and 10,422 were women. Men have a very high rate of death by suicide compared with women. So that, the suicide rate among males were 73.9 per 100,000 men and for women 13.2 per 100,000 female. In spite of this, it is one of the countries with the highest female suicide rate in the world.
Statistics show that in 2014, suicides were the main cause of unnatural death in the world. In Russia suicide also is one of the leading causes of unnatural death. By comparison, there were 47,870 homicides in Russia, there are more suicides than homicides. For every homicide there were 1.3 suicides.
